2nd photo release from Breaking Dawn (part 1)

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part 1) isn't due in theaters till November 2011, but you Twi-hards probably want to taste that epic two-part finale right now. Fortunately, director Bill Condon wants to help you out by slowly releasing tiny bits and pieces of the film(s) in conjunction with major holidays.

During Thanksgiving we got an image of Bella's hand amidst a bundle of feathers (fans of the series will know the meaning behind that one), and on Christmas, Condon released another photo from the set showing us all what Christmas looks like at the Swan household. Condon tweeted the image with this message: "Happy holidays from the Swan home to yours."

Nothing all too revealing in this image, which looks like your basic Christmas setting, complete with colored lights, a big tree and…wait, is that FOUR stockings we see, with a tiny little one at the end for what could be a new arrival to the Swan family!? Oohh Condon, you tease!

Spot anything else of interest in this new image?

A Blog Everyone Should Follow - Take A Stand Against Plagiarism

This is a blog I found out about from a retweet, and I honestly think it's one that everyone who reads and writes fanfiction would benefit from following and reading.

The Fan Fiction Advocate

"Our group was created as an early warning/verifying system to help combat plagiarism. The primary focus of this group is to validate respectable Fan Fiction blogs, bloggers& verify known, respectable authors. This group gives some security to the fans who should know the story they're reading really does belong to the person writing it."

They have lists of verified blogs, authors as well as lists of known plagiarists and alerts about what stories have been plagiarized and when they are corrected. This would be a great place to let people know if you see a story that is copied from someone else and let people know. Though they only have 20 followers I think that if they could get a large community of people it would be that much more affective.

And as an avid reader of fan fiction and someone who holds all authors in high respect I think it is our duty to make sure the credit for stories only go to those who write them. And with all the web and different sights they can't watch everything, so its up to us to keep an eye open and keep people honest.

With that said, I know many amazing stories that weren't completed because of this problem and taken down or just left incomplete. Even authors have left and its heartbreaking. So not being able to have any legal standing on stopping this in fanfiction, we can at least let people know that we won't be passive and just let this continue.

So join me in following this blog/twitter and looking out for stories and authors.

Breaking Dawn: Coven Casting Update

Here's the updated casting for the different covens that are in Breaking Dawn:

To see photos: click here

THE AMAZON COVEN
                Senna – Tracey Heggins
                Zafrina – Judi Shekoni

Among the oldest vampires in the world, Senna and Zafrina are descendants of an ancient Amazonian tribe.  They have lived outside of civilization for centuries and therefore make no attempt to keep up a human facade. Though they drink human blood, the Amazons have long been allies of Carlisle.
THE EGYPTIAN COVEN
                Amun – Omar Metwally
                Kebi – Andrea Gabriel
                Benjamin – Rami Malek
                Tia – Angela Sarafyan

The Egyptian Coven consists of Amun, Kebi, Benjamin, and Tia, with Amun as the leader. It is stated that even though they are not a biological family, they could pass for one. Amun is extremely protective of his family and fearful of Aro.
THE IRISH COVEN
                Maggie – Marlane Barnes
                Siobhan – Lisa Howard
                Liam – Patrick Brennan

The Irish Coven, a relatively young group, was founded by Siobhan and Liam, but Maggie’s talent made her an important element of it. They are not vegetarian but they are civilized.
THE ROMANIAN COVEN
                Vladimir – Noel Fisher
                Stefan – Guri Weinberg

The Romanian Coven is one of the oldest covens in the world and they were the ruling vampire family until they were unseated by the Volturi.  For that reason they harbor a centuries old resentment of the Italian coven.
THE AMERICAN NOMADS
                Garrett – Lee Pace
                Mary – Toni Trucks
                Randall – Bill Tangradi
                Peter – Erik Odom
                Charlotte – Valorie Curry

Turned during the Revolutionary War, Garrett has chosen to live a nomadic existence, wandering the world on his own. Garrett has never lost the rebellious spirit of his human life, and loves a good fight, always rooting for the underdog. Though not a vegetarian, Garrett is among Carlisle’s closest and oldest friends.
Mary and Randall are American nomadic vampires.
Peter and Charlotte are nomadic vampires and mates.  They were created during the aftermath of the Southern Vampire Wars, in which Jasper was a key player.  They have remained friends with Jasper ever since.
THE EUROPEAN NOMADS
                Alistair – Joe Anderson

A nomadic vampire from England, Alistair has a misanthropic, brooding personality and a deep mistrust of all authority.  Although he counts Carlisle as his closest acquaintance, he doesn’t visit more than once a century.

Blog Help

As you may or may not have noticed i've been having some formatting problems with my blog posts.
Sometimes they are spaced out really weirdly and have huge gaps between rec's and sometimes within rec's , but when i go to edit them, it looks perfectly fine. Anyone know what i'm suppose to do? The only thing i can possibly thing of is just retyping them all and reposting, but that would take a lot of work and time i'm not sure i have. Any idea's/suggestions would be amazing!!

Daniel Radcliffe to play Edward Cullen spoof on The Simpsons

Daniel Radcliffe, will be making a guest appearance in an upcoming episode of THe Simpsons but he will not be playing himself nor Harry Potter. Instead Radcliffe will be voicing "Edmund the vampire" a clear spoof of Twilight and RObert Pattinson's character Edward Cullen. (photo below)

Some details on the episode Treehouse of Horror XXI, airing on November 7th:

"The supernatural spells continue in "Tweenlight," when Lisa becomes smitten with a mysterious new student, Edmund, who also happens to be a vampire. When a romance blossoms, the young lovers run away to Dracula-la Land, leaving Homer to come to Lisa's rescue."

I'm actually a fan of The Simpsons, but don't get to watch it up here at college (just don't have the time anymore) but i know i'll make time for this episode, its going to be great. What do you think?

Full Length College Course on Twilight, yay or nah?

Back in March, the first full-length college course onthe Twilight series was announced here, and now the course is up and running for California State University's Fall 2010 program.
The class description is as follows: "Examines theTwilight saga and the resulting fandom.  ExploresTwlight in relation to the social and cultural construction of gender and gendered identities in contemporary U.S. culture.  Using an intersectional lens emphasizing gender, race, class, sexuality, and belief, provides students with the conceptual and analytical foundations to think more deeply about popular culture and its impact.  Covers vampire lore, the romantic core of the series, female characters and fans, the depiction of men and masculinity, religious contexts, race and white privilege, the franchising of Twilight, and various cultural contexts such as abstinence only education and the rise of internet fandoms."
When we discussed the course back in March, it was noted that the professor, Dr. Natalie Wilson, intended to make the course open to the public as much as possible by utilizing a blog to correspond to the course teachings. Her blog is available here.
Wilson's latest entry for the blog catalogues some of the progress that she has made with the course, noting student observations such as "Bella, if she had a Facebook account, would regularly post the update 'another rainy day'", and "
The dismissal of female fans perpetuates the message that anything women like can’t be good." Read the rest here.
Some sources recently caught wind of the offering, and after checking back into the topic, it seems that indeed the course is fully underway, and fans can go ahead and tune in to what's being said about this subject matter in the first full-length college course on Twilight. It should be really interesting to see what Dr. Wilson and her course find about the Sagathrough this platform.
Second Article (other universities and other ways you can participate)
A few weeks ago, we learned that Cambridge University was to be introducing the Twilight saga into its Faculty of Education's curriculum so as to better understand children and their relationship to current books. The series has also made its way into middle and high school course plans, onto English reading lists, and beyond.
Now, the first full-length college course on the Twilight series has been approved, according to Dr. Natalie Wilson, the Cal State San Marcos Women's Studies professor who'll be teaching it.
Wilson, who is currently penning an analysis of the Saga's impact on popular culture, revealed that the course will be entitled "Twilight: The Texts and the Fandom" and that fans outside of the classroom will be able to participate in the course in a lot of ways as well. Actual students will be granted general credit for taking this class.
Wilson plans to devise the course materials as a mixture of the books, derivative theory-based works, the films, parodies, and the social and fan internet community. Students of the class will be asked to develop reactions and critiques to these materials in one of several ways (including through parodies, skits, blogs, or texts).
The course will also be unique in that it will involve the internet fan community in two ways. First, fans who are not a member of the Twilight class will be able to follow along and participate through Dr. Natalie Wilson's blog. Second, members of the classroom will be encouraged to reach out into the Twilight fan community and learn more about the blogs and news sources that are out there.
In her blog, she posted about the curriculum approval, saying the following:
I can hear all those naysayers that claim Twilight has nothing to teach us shrieking in dismay “Oh, it’s the end of the academy!”  Well, the same arguments were made when Harry Potter, Buffy, and Star Trek courses made it onto the curriculum. As such courses have proven, examining popular texts and popular culture has much to tell us about our historical epoch, about race, class, gender, sexuality, philosophy, literature, etc.
Wilson considers herself a critical fan, in that she may point out the controversy in some aspects and messages of the Saga, but she states that she is a fan and finds the series to have both positive messages and culturally subsversive ones.

pretty interesting stuff, if i do say so myself (i know i'd rather take these classes than biology or something haha)

casey labow The Rest of the Denali Coven in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN Have Been Cast!

MyAnna Buring as Tanya

Ok, there you have it - The Denali Coven. Any thoughts? I'm a little apprehensive, i personally don't know any of these acts (as in i've never seen them in movies) so i don't know how they work, or if they are that good. But I just feel like i've had different images of them in my mind. (I actually picked a different photo of MyAnna for this because the one they were showing really made me dislike the casting, it was this photo from the source i got this information, link). But I think i'm going to refrain from saying anything too negative until I at least see them in a trailer or something.

Maggie Grace has signed on to play Irina in Breaking Dawn

Lost’ and ‘Taken’ actress will play a ‘vegetarian’ vampire who turns on the Cullens.

With production set to begin very soon, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1″ continues to add members to its already-crowded cast.

Last month we learned that “The Pacific” actor Rami Malek had joined the “Dawn” ranks in the role of Egyptian vampire Benjamin. On Monday (September 27), it was reported that “Lost” and “Taken” actress Maggie Grace has signed on to play “vegetarian” vampire Irina.
A rep from Summit Entertainment confirmed the casting to MTV News, and the original story appeared first on Deadline.com.

So who is Irina? Those familiar with Stephenie Meyer’s source material will recall that she is a member of the Denali coven, one of the only other “vegetarian” vampire covens and allies with the Cullens — that is, until Irina blames the family for the death of her former lover, Laurent, and vengefully reveals a Cullen family secret to the Volturi.

The other “Dawn” newbie, Benjamin, is a member of the Egyptian coven who comes to help Bella and the Cullens battle the Volturi. Benjamin is a young vamp blessed with the special ability of controlling the elements (à la Storm from X-Men), though he has yet to fully master his powers.

“I think it’s going to be great,” Rami told “ET” of his joining the cast last month. “It’s going to be super exciting, and I’m thrilled.”

Summit announced in June that “Breaking Dawn” would be divided into two parts; the first of the two films is scheduled to hit theaters November 18, 2011, and the second on November 16, 2012.

Have They Found Remesmee?

From The Hollywood Insider:
Original Article Found here
It’s a big day for Twihards. First Maggie Grace signs on to play Irina. Now EW.com has learned that little 9-year old Mackenzie Foy is inches away from signing on to play Renesmee, Edward and Bella’s vampire/human love child that’s a central role in the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
It’s not yet clear how the diminutive actress, who’s appeared in one episode each of television shows FlashForward and ‘Til Death, will portray the character who ages a full 17 years in only seven. Sources have suggested that director Bill Condon will employ similar digital effects to those used by David Fincher in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where Foy’s face would be digitally transferred onto the face of a younger child. It’s also probable that the studio will hire a younger child in some capacity, too.
Summit Entertainment is remaining mum on the issue. But to see Foy’s angelic face, which could very well be the offspring of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart click here for her official website.

No denying she's a cutie, but i don't know about the age. She is 9 years old, and she's suppose to be playing a baby? Any thoughts?

Casting Breaking Dawn Updates

‘Breaking Dawn’ Adds Egyptian Vampire Benjamin to Cast

By: Erik Davis on September 1, 2010 at 2:22PM (originally posted on Fandango, here)

Rami Malek

During their Emmy Awards party, Entertainment Tonight let loose that Rami Malek (he played Ankmenrah In both Night at the Museum films) has joined the cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as the vampire Benjamin, who’s part of an Egyptian coven that assist the Cullens by acting as witnesses for them during a key part in the movie. Malek will most likely be joined by several other vampires who still need to be cast, including more Egyptians, Romanians, Irish, Amazonians and nomads.
What do you think about the casting, and which new character are you looking forward to seeing on screen for the first time?

Ed says...Honestly i'm excited about this casting. I never really pictured him as a character, and i've always been happy with the choices. Since I actually watched the movie before reading any of the books, I had those people in my head as the characters. So I know he did an amazing job in the second Night at the Museum I'm sure he'll be up to the task to being in Breaking Dawn.
